Working with Layers

How layers composite, available blend modes, and the randomize action.

Layer Stack

Layers composite top-down — the top layer renders on top of everything below. Drag layers to reorder them.

Each layer shows:

  • Name — Generator type and number
  • Opacity — How much this layer contributes
  • Blend mode — How it combines with layers below
  • Eye — Toggle visibility
  • S — Solo this layer
  • Trash — Delete layer
  • Grip dots — Drag to reorder

Blend Modes

  • Alpha — Standard opacity blending
  • Add — Brightens (adds values)
  • Multiply — Darkens (multiplies values)
  • Screen — Brightens (inverse multiply)
  • Overlay — Combines multiply and screen
  • Subtract — Darkens by subtracting
  • Difference — Shows the difference between layers
  • Max / Min — Takes the brighter or darker value
